LOCAL RIVER #1 NAME

The LOCAL RIVER NAME is one of our region’s best trout fisheries, renowned for its prolific insect hatches and large, eager trout! Best of all, the decades of restoration work by NAME Chapter to restore the RIVER NAME habitat and improve its health through tree plantings and other volunteer projects has helped make it even better. Some of the most popular sections to fish are the special REGULATION NAME (IE CATCH & RELEASE or DELAYED HARVEST) section along ROAD NAME in TOWN NAME, and the more remote waters accessible by hiking in from the TRAIL NAME along ROAD NAME in TOWN NAME. Some of the best fishing on RIVER NAME takes place from DATE to DATE when the FLY NAME are hatching. Fishing is open from DATE to DATE and along with a STATE NAME fishing license you must also have a SPECIAL PERMIT NAME (IE TROUT STAMP) to fish in the special regulation waters.

Missouri Trout Parks

Bennett Spring State Park, Maramec Spring Park, Montauk State Park and Roaring River State Park are widely known as the “Missouri trout parks.”   The streams in these parks are fed by cold Ozark springs and are ideal for trout year-round.  The parks are great places to spend time in the outdoors and have been welcoming visitors for generations.  Large numbers of anglers come from all over the country to fish these beautiful parks during the regular put-and-take season March to October, or during the far less crowded winter catch-and-release season.

The trout parks’ amenities include stores, restaurants, campgrounds, nature centers, museums, hiking trails, and more. Each of these parks features an on-site hatchery operated by the Missouri Department of Conservation.  Trout Unlimited participates in special events held in the parks each year for groups including kids, women, and veterans, and has supported park improvements such as handicapped access.

The trout parks are great for angler recruitment and at the same time take pressure off Missouri’s limited wild fisheries. Thousands of anglers have caught their first trout in one of Missouri’s trout parks, including some nationally known fly fishers such as the late Dave Whitlock.
